Alan Leader

Dr. Alan Leader received his bachelor's and master's degrees in Business and Economics from the University of Rochester. He worked in production control and purchasing for nine years, living The Goal from a 'cost' perspective.

After earning his doctorate (Management, Economics, Quantitative Analysis, Sociology and Administrative Science) from Indiana University with the assistance of a Ford Fellowship, he taught Management at Western Michigan University, earning tenure and the rank of Professor.

He was appointed Dean of the College of Business and Public Administration at the University of Guam. During his eight years there, he served on the Guam Economic Development Authority Board and also, under the United Nations, worked with several Micronesian states in preparation for their autonomy or an alternative political status.

Subsequently, he became Dean of the School of Business and Economics at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, Connecticut. He became acquainted with the early work of Dr. Eli Goldratt, studied at the Avraham Y. Goldratt Institute, becoming licensed in Production, Distribution, and Project Management, and taught there.

Dr. Leader was named Dean Emeritus by Southern Connecticut State University. He was a member of the AGI/JEMBA development team, moved to Seattle, and taught TOC at Seattle University.

He has written articles and books on planning, decision making, ethics, public administration, organizational dysfunctions and successes. He is a Certified Mediator in the State of Washington, active in the University Rotary Club, and consults under the name Leader Associates.

Dr. Leader is a Jonah's Jonah and has taught on the faculty of the Goldratt Schools. He is Chair of the TOCICO Thinking Process Committee and is currently preparing an article/book on TOC in Mediation.
